Firefox - Slowest?

People praise FF a lot on this forum I have had it as default for a few days and noticed a dramatic downturn in loading times. Even my email which used to open on the button, is now longer than 5 or more seconds. I open a web site from an mail link and thought the pc was broke, just a white screen, then ater a few more seconds my page began to show up. There are other examples of white screen slow slow starts. Its also failing to save passwords in quite a few cases.

I don't know about passwords. I never save them (in any browser).

Anyway for me it's fast and no loading issues. Try with addons disabled.

Hi Cal, just opened opera and tried same as in FF, much faster and opera has add ons. Going to check FF ones now.

Check FF only 2: Ad blocker Ult and yet another speed dial. I have no log in or profile

Cal: I did a run through asetup too, and found something I have never touched not remeber seeing. Opening in Https in all windows yes, no in windows, no in private mode: the last one was ticked. I changed it to the top one Yes, and there is a definite improvement????? It only started this slow mo last night. I thoguht it might have been the Broadband but opera is just as fast.

Just launch troubleshoot mode and see if it is faster. If faster - addons, custom settings or theme could be an issue.

If no faster then it's something else.

Backup profile, remove it and reinstall it after a reboot.

Heading for bed now but will check tomorrow evening. Another change: Gmail opens as Google Workspace, then goes to mail - what the heck is that??? Thanks ace.

I use Firefox a lot, only time I see opening being slow is the checking for updates.

Firefox is using a Brand new and different base, this started in Fx 89 and is better in BETA 90 but as in everything new, it gets better in time. I hope I can say the same about Windows 11. It has to be better than this 21H1 conglomeration of builds.
