Please follow dalchina's post #2 using only Banking, Investing, Home Loans & Auto Finance | Ally but do so manually the first time.
That link came from manually using
Can't get needed help from ally bank-https-ally.jpg

Personally, I would remove anything in favorites or any ally connections any where else first on the laptop.
After that, use only Banking, Investing, Home Loans & Auto Finance | Ally manually the first time.
If you are then allowed to access your account, save the cookies if possible.

If you are directed to one of those long URL'S again and still can't access the account, just let us know.

I don't have an ally account so I did a search for Banking, Investing, Home Loans & Auto Finance | Ally manually and got this basic log in screen.

Probably you will see only that basic log in screen the first time, but if you are able to log in from there and use your account, you should eventually be able to see what dalchina sees or at least similar to it.

Steps you suggested take me to the saved screenshot you showed. I get the same results as before. When I enter my username & password, it identifies a long URL, that others have said might contain personal info, and then just stops working. It does not lock up, just sets there forever doing nothing. It does "flash", I mean quick, "waiting on secure ....Ally"

I also followed the five suggested steps....ditto

I also started FireFox in Safe Mode....ditto

    Thanks for the update

I also noticed as I tried to progress from there that I did get w/o entering a username & password since I don't have an account with them a long URL is showed which means to me that I do not have any personal info to be referred to.
--- I'm wondering if ally even recognizes your account on your laptop for whatever reason.

Did you "remove anything in favorites or any ally connections any where else first on the laptop"
--- Consider using Storage Sense to remove applicable sections

I guess what I'm saying is to remove anything about ally on your Windows 10 laptop at this point in time and start over.

I have an older laptop HP Windows 10 PRO Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.985 and wish I had an account to test if I could log in.

Do you have friend who has a modern laptop to see if you can access your account?
--- I suspect you will be asked to verify if you want to use the modern laptop as your default device to be your assigned device: I don't recall the exact wording.
--- But if your desktop PC is the device to be recognized, that can can be a contributing factor.

I don't how to address that. Maybe ally can determine that.

Since the laptop gets into a "mile long" URL that literally hangs up, it's time to develop some troubleshooting procedures even if some of them don't make sense especially since what you are seeing doesn't make sense.

I'm going to do some research on how to deal with URL's hanging up. I hope there's something out there to address "URL's hanging up".

YES, I AM SHOUTING. I DECIDED TO GO "INCOGNITO" AND TRY TO LOG ON TO MY ALLY ACCOUNT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY, BUT I CAN NOW ACCESS THE ACCOUNT. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. Maybe someone knows why it works now.

I clicked the 3 dots in upper RH corner and clicked "New incognito window" and then went to Ally Bank Login.

If you mean in-private browsing then that further points the finger at browser add-ins as the cause of your problem.

    All the best,

As Denis said, it is nearly 100% certain one or more addons (extensions) are causing the issue. Since all browsers on the lappy act the same way, perhaps it's an addon common to all, such as Malwarebytes Browser Guard. Or a password manager.

I am willing to get there via "New incognito window"; but, can it be fixed so I can access the account like I could previously, just by clicking a "favorite"?

Are you reading the posts by Denis and me regarding the addons? We think there may be a connection .
