    Expand that pane to be wider to see the end of each GUID. There's gotta be a difference between them. Otherwise, it shouldn't be listed twice.

    When I use your reg file to add the IE Icon it add one key. Removing the IE icon, removes one key:

    I cannot insert the image!

    Sorry,
    One is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30301D} - Internet Explorer.
    The other is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} - Internet Folder

    Yep, they are different. The top one is the correct one. No need to worry about the bottom one.

    I Found a website, with, what they say it is the default values for [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}] Registry Tree, here: http://windowrdb.com/w.php?w=hkcr-clsid-871c5380-42a0-1069-a2ea-08002b30309d

    I have checked my registry for that tree (Internet Folder), and found severall differences (in red):

    {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D} is unrelated to the IE desktop icon.

    You would want to look at {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30301D} instead.
