I can't see new emails in my InBox

For the past 36 hours, I have been unable to see new mails in my Inbox. The only way I know that someone has sent me an email is by looking at 'Notifications' - the square at the right-hand side on my bottom bar, just to the right of the date and time. But that has problems; if there are lots, I have to take several snips so I know who's sent me a new email.

I apologise that I first created "MOST URGENT. Why have I received a new notification but not the - Microsoft Community in the Microsoft Community. Only one expert has made any attempt to respond - thank you Diane Poremsky MVP. Even the Forum Owners have failed to assist. The only help I'm being given is by the Microsoft Support Team on Twitter (@MicrososoftHelps).

The problem is causing me many headaches. For example, my solicitor emailed me very important legal documents three hours ago that she wanted me to confirm. She gave me a deadline of two hours. She phoned me just now wanting to know why I hadn't replied.

I honestly can't believe that Forum Owners in the Microsoft Community haven't made any attempt to help. I hope that someone here will be able to help me.

Hi, sorry to hear of your problem.

You could, in the meantime, use a web browser to log in to your mail account.

It would help just to confirm you're referring to the Mail app, and not some other email client.

What version is your Mail app? I have
    16005.13426.20920.0

I can't help you with your specific problem, as I use Thunderbird.

I have been unable to see new mails in my Inbox.
A screenshot - obscuring personal details- might help.

    For the past 36 hours
Have you considered using a System Restore point, if you have System Restore enabled and there is a suitable one?

What do you think may have changed about 36 hours ago?
Was the Mail app updated? (Might be hard to know..)
Any updates or changes? (See your Update History).

It would greatly help to know what the email program is - Outlook, Microsoft Mail, Gmail, what???

It would also help if you were clearer in your post - what do you mean by you can't "see new mails in my Inbox."? - Does it mean that even though you see a notification....
"The only way I know that someone has sent me an email is by looking at 'Notifications"
when you go to the inbox there is no email there?

And have you checked notification for said app by going to Settings, System, clicking Notifications & actions, and making sure the notification for said app is turned on.

You didn't answer her question about what happens when you click on an email notification in the action center.

Also, please confirm that you're using a locally-installed Outlook client program and not Outlook.com in a web browser.

    problem resolved!!!

I have resolved the problem with the 'missing' emails!

Two of my previous major problems with my outlook.com were(1) every email was pinned. I didn't do it but every new email became pinned too.(2) items that I'd deleted months ago suddenly appeared.I created threads here about these problems but they weren't resolved. So I've just spent two hours unpinning every email. When I finished, the 'missing' emails were there. Touch wood, these problems won't resurface.

Thank you to those who responded.
