    @Anak

    Yeah... I don't know how that works.

    But here's one way to get an idea...

    This line in about:config makes you "able" to uncheck this box... in Tools > Settings

    browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser = False

    Firefox...  taming the beast !-image1.png

    Without unchecking that box, everytime FF was started, it would ask if you wanted to make FF your default browser.

    And back when FF 75.0 was released... the address bar would expand in height, every time a new tab was opened...

    How to restore the old Firefox address bar - gHacks Tech News

    That's what these settings were for...

    browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus
    browser.urlbar.update1
    browser.urlbar.update1.interventions
    browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips
    browser.urlbar.update1.view.stripHttps

    In MY about:config, they are still set to false, cause I set them way back when FF 75 was released.
    This is why I mentioned (in the 1st post), that these were OLD settings.

    There was a new commit (ver 3.2.2) yesterday, and it says

    [Buttons]
    (fix) Fx89+/Proton: custom icons size + downloads buttons is back again

    I think this particular change refers to the fact that it now shows the progress (of downloads) in a Circular icon and the normal download icon doesn't disappear afterwards. As I have already created and made changes in "my_userChrome.css" this means I only have to comment/uncomment a few options in the "userChrome.css" file.

    It might be that I'm using your "already edited" userChrome.css file... an it changed the settings for me.

    @Ghot Btw,
    Some of the about:config settings in your first post are coming up as bolean for me, and then ask me to add them, I haven't tried adding any that ask to be. I figure that not being there is as good as makin' 'em false.
    I think it may be just the opposite. Firefox will assume true till you turn it off with a created about:config preference.

    I recall this case from last year with a new preference to remove the Recommendations tab in addons, as an example.

    A few days ago, I went back to using Firefox Stable (I used ESR for a few months). One of the things I like changing in Firefox is getting rid of the Recommendations tab in about:addons. The about:config setting that used to work with Stable to get rid of that tab, doesn't work anymore, it doesn't work in Firefox 79.

    But I found this new about:config setting that gets rid of the annoying tab.

    extensions.getAddons.showPane

    You have to create the setting, and set it to false. This is for users who likes to clean the addons tab, and I am posting the solution here as perhaps someone finds it useful.

    Yes, that's the way it is supposed to work:
    Boolean preferences are set to true by default; use the ToggleButton button to change the value.

    @OldMike65

    Here is the newest Chrome folder (with userChrome.css already edited), which supposedly fixes the download button's workings...

    Chrome 3.2.3.7z

    Also... the 1st post of this topic has been updated with this file.

    Could you explain what I would need to do to add this one new feature [Buttons] to the 3.2.0 version I am using now??

    Only feature I would like back is getting the progress (of downloads) in a Circular icon back ....any help would be appreciated.

    Kinda figured that. It took me about 10 minutes to go through it all.
    I tried to test on mine, but I still get that blank download "wheel" thing.

    I assume yours will be different. It must be some about:config setting in my FF?
    Or maybe they made a change in the userContent.css file, or one of the other .css files in the folders, (which I don't mess with).

    Remember... after swapping this new Chrome folder for the old one... you need to restart FF.

    I DO know they did change something. I used to get a blank icon ALL the time for the downloads, but now I do get the down arrow and the horizontal bracket, but I still don't get the download spinning circle.
    But you might.

    Other than that, I don't see any changes.

    I don't know what exact steps that might be able to take, but what I did was that I 'renamed' the Chrome folder to Chrome000 and then extracted the new "Chrome" folder to the profile. After that, it was a matter of comparing the main "userChrome.css" in both folders and then replicating any differences to the "userChrome.css" in the new Chrome folder.

    This way if it doesn't work out , you can remove the Updated Chrome folder and rename the Chrome000 folder back to Chrome to get back to where you were before.

    I haven't made a comparison of all the files in the Chrome folders, but I think the "download" button fix would be in one of the new files in the new sub-folders - there appear to be 3 new extra files in the update, and some also appear to have been updated.
