Unable to use Amazon website on one of my computers

Both Chrome and MS edge browsers are giving me the same problem:

After I get to the Amazon.com website , I can't search for anything. Whenever I enter a search item, the browsers lock up and I see "waiting for unagi.com......etc etc." After exiting the browsers ,I can't relaunch either browser until I reboot computer. This is a very recent event. I never had this problem before. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome but that did not fix the issue. I don't have this problem with my other networked computers. Seems like only the Amazon page gives me this problem with that particular computer which is running Windows 10Pro 20H2. Other networked computers are on Windows 10 Home 21H1 . Any ideas how to fix? Thanks

Change DNS? Then reset router (hard reset button) and reboot.

Change IPv4 and IPv6 DNS Server Address in Windows

Try one of the DNS servers listed here in the above tutorial.

    7. To Use Custom or Third-party DNS Server Address

    Also flush DNS.

I changed the DNS on the computer in question to google's DNS , then rebooted the computer and the router. I did not flush the computer's DNS . I left the router DNS empty. No change in computer behavior.

I am confused : If I added a preferred DNS on Router( Asus 86U, std firmware) , do I have to set each individual computer's DNS to obtain DNS automatically or set a different DNS from the router. Does the Router DNS overwrite the individual computer's DNS or the other way round.

Don't change DNS in router. Change in windows.

    OPTION TWO

To Change IPv4 and IPv6 DNS Server Address in Control Panel

Then reset router, flush dns and reboot. If no change then it's not a DNS lookup problem.

FYI: Since you said it's affecting more than one browser I figure that it's a DNS issue.

If the DNS lookup was the problem, IIRC, it would hang at "Resolving X" or "Looking up X".

For slow internet, I normally would see it hang at "Transferring data from X".

"Waiting for X" is more likely a database problem on the server or a drive problem on the server, or otherwise something that's not network-related. IIRC, I would get this message often at night, apparently a maintenance job, if not a database maintenance job.

Reading through your post again the above would indicate some other issue. If the problem arose soon after installing an update, try uninstalling the update. Other than that I have no idea. Maybe others will comment.

I will try to fix DNS by following you link above. If I still get the problem then I need to look elsewhere, most probably the Asus router settings.

DNS set in windows takes preference over router settings. (Router settings will be ignored if you set DNS in windows).

However I reckon that if browsers refuse to launch until you reboot then it's some other issue anyway.

Guys , I fixed the issue by turning the following to automatic:

    · DNS Client
    · Peer Networking Grouping
    · SSDP Discovery
    · UPnP Device Host

They were in Manual start mode so some not started . Function Discovery XXX were already started and were set to automatic.

I dont know which one was the main cause because I did it all at the same time. But now everything works again.
