Why is it so difficult to add extra email accounts to Mail.
Every time i need to add Gmail and Virgin (Ntlworld) to Mail it can never find them. These email work fine from chrome browser and with desktop thunderbird (Accepted my user names and passwords first time. This has been a problem ever since I can remember.
Sync mail is switched on.
Windows 10.home, pro and insider preview.

Google may require an app specific password to work.
As for Virginmedia ensure you’re using the correct settings:
imap.virginmedia.com:993:1
SSL on/ticked
smtp.virginmedia.com:465:1
SSL on/ticked
There’s many complaints about VM not working well with the Mail app - or working well in general.
No problem with any of my Email Accounts for 6 years which includes Gmail.
It thinks for a time with an ISP provided Email Account, but that is all.
Sometimes an Antivirus package may scan Email. I'm not using Bitdefender.
Have you tried my suggestion to create an app specific password for the Google account?
As for Virginmedia it is well known on their forum that their email accounts do not work well too often with the Mail app - if at all with any app.
