Edge is not download any files

This is happening on Windows 7 but fix should apply for any Windows PC.

I was downloading a file that was only 4.0 KB. After 30 minute I went to close Edge and got this:

Edge is not download any files-dl1.jpg

It should have loaded in a matter of seconds.

I thought about uninstalling Edge and then downloading the latest version and installing it. Will this fix the problem?

Or is there easy fix to this issue?

    Thanks

Is Edge your only browser? Has Internet Explorer been disabled/removed? I always keep 3 or more browsers installed to use in diagnosing such problems. And I always try to duplicate such an issue with my clients by going where they went to get the download. A 4KB file is quite small, most icons on the desktop are on about 2KB.

Update Edge, click the 3 dots at upper right and scroll down to Help and feedback then to About Microsoft Edge, will check for updates and prompt to close to install.

My experience has been normally a slow download is an issue with the internet connection speed or an issue at the download site, not the browser.

As Berton states, check with another browser.

Berton at present I have four (4) browsers installed including Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is not disabled, but is rarely used.

I believe Edge is updating NOW.

pericles, I did make the download with another browser. That worked without issue.
