Click here to download "Matthew's preference.zip" and extract the files.

    Double-click on "Metered or unmetered.cmd".

You beat me to the punch line again, I was just about to save changes and I received a post notification from Outlook.
I didn't even have to read it, I knew it would be you.
    Don't you ever sleep?

I'm canceling my post and going to bed now.

I am bedridden, lying on the bed day and night and looking at the screen round the clock.

My connection is set as metered and 'Download updates over metered connections' is off in the 'About'
And metered connections is on on wifi network properties. It still download and install the update.
For me, it doesn't. It only searches for an update, and, if it finds one, it neither downloads nor installs the update. Instead, it tells me a funny joke about not being able to download certain updates without a non metered WiFi connection thus suggesting things like ethernet connections have somehow gone the way of the dodo. This is the expected behavior from Microsoft. I mean, they've always been this funny, at least since 1984. Steve Jobs thought grey and beige computers look boring, but Microsoft is definitely 100 times less boring than Apple. You just gotta love these kinds of surprises. Trust me. It's inside their DNA, it always has been!
