New Browser Pays You for Use

This new browser Gener8 based on Chrome won funding on Dragon's Den on BBC TV last night. The browser can be set to block all ads or pay you 80% of the ad revenue. I'll give it a whirl for non-sensitive web browsing. Has anyone tried it?

    Hi, I'm curious:

We create value from your data, through advertising, surveys and smart tracking. Then we can then share that back with you via Gener8 Points which you can redeem for products, vouchers or donate to charity in the Gener8 Marketplace. We anonymise your personal data and browsing history with a randomly generated alphanumeric identifier so that no one, (including us!), will ever know that it relates to you.
It sounds like they do some sort of anonymous analysis of browsing patterns and then sell that on.
Only meaningful if enough people take up their browser - meanwhile the advertising companies lose out on a good part of their revenue.. if 80% goes to the user, who's paying Gener8? I.e. what's their business model?

So the browser steals money from publishers by replacing the ads that fund the sites you are viewing with ones from the browser company

So it is just like Brave, but at least Brave gives you the option to keep it or to support webpages you want.
