Anyone noticed that MS Edge Chromium does not update after Patch Tues?

Maybe here, but I no longer receive it, since my email provider considers MS as spam.

When I asked the support rep - he admitted they did not document or communicate this. Which for an app with a reach like Edge - is incredibly bizarre. But MS has been known to do worse I guess.

I was curious as to if your automatic updates have resumed since your last post?

Like you, at the time of your first post, mine did not and does not auto update even now with the two tasks running in task scheduler. Either Microsoft still invokes a hold order on auto updates or they are happy that people must manually fetch the updates.

What is scary about this, is that my Edge Chrome does not update even with a Cumulative release and sometimes the browser needs updated in less than twelve hours after the previous manual update.

Now what I don't understand, is that Microsoft touts with glee that you must have the latest security patches included in a Regular Cumulative update (Patch Tuesday and not the Preview Cumulative Updates), yet the Edge browser will remain behind and not update to the latest release.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind fetching the update manually; but after almost a year of having to do this still, it is getting quite old to tell you the truth.

I know this was considered solved as far as your talk with Microsoft, but that does not indicate that they have addressed this issue since I still am not receiving auto Edge updates.

I have to fetch them manually every single time no matter if a Patch Tuesday event occurred or not.

On a side note, I noticed that Microsoft Edge no longer appears in the Microsoft Store purchased Apps list like it did before they changed the layout of the Microsoft Store.

I'm thinking if I recall correctly, the Edge Browser use to appear in my list of purchased Apps and now it does not, and the Microsoft Store used to have a problem updating Apps automatically itself. They fixed the Microsoft Store not updating Apps automatically issue; but now since that fix, the Edge Browser itself will not update and no longer appears in the Microsoft Store purchased Apps list------Very Odd Coincidence!

Pretty typical that it took them almost seven years to fix the Microsoft Store Apps not updating issue only to realize Windows 10 is supported until October 2025, and they broke their prize browser from updating automatically because it no longer appears in the Microsoft Store under the purchased apps list.

Now if the Edge Browser is no longer considered an App, that would explain why it no longer shows in the purchased Apps list; but why then can we still download the browser from the Microsoft Store if it isn't considered an App any longer?

Something to chew on for sure!
