Then you presumably have configured your PC so you do not see a lock screen - i.e. a non-default setting - or you do not have Spotlight enabled.
Doesn't Edge launch by default for web searches from the search bar? (I have Edge Deflector set up so can't currently check that). If so, you could try that instead. Something that would normally launch Edge.
A lock screen precedes that. It has no login prompt. With Spotlight, it offers the opportunity to 'Like' what you see and get info on it. You dismiss the lock screen to see the login screen.
From the tutorial section this shows lock screen images using Spotlight, followed at (3) by a login screen:
