    Hello @Ghot,

[1] What impact would that have on the OS though, especially considering that Edge is deeply integrated into the OS?

[2] What would it break or cause NOT to work in your experience of a years testing?

The only things I ever noticed in my "year" of testing, was it broke WU. That was it.

I just looked at this and I do NOT have the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application. The only instances appear to be in the WinSxS folder!

Does NOT apply as I will NOT be updating.

    Thanks again.

Those directions are for BOTH the OLD and the NEW. The NEW is located here...
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application

If you don't have the NEW Edge, you won't have a folder there.

I do NOT want Microsoft Edge available [ popups, icons etc ].
What popups would you get if you just deleted its icons? (None is my guess.)

I have MS Edge, but I've never used it. My default browser is set to Firefox.

I've set all instances of MS Edge to manual in 'services' and have never seen any occurrence of it wanting me to let it take over.

I use 'The Tool' and everything is gone.
    Hasn't broken anything.

Pretty much the same here. FF is default. NEW Edge is installed, and blocked in firewall.
And all the MS Edge services are on manual.

On my computer, Edge has become increasingly intrusive. I despise it. The latest is Microsoft Edge News. There is an Edge icon on my task bar; Firefox is my default browser, but Edge keeps appearing. Now, from out of nowhere, my DuckDuckGo (default) Search takes place in the address bar. I feel desperate, like crying, every day, from the misery that Microsoft is inflicting on me. I don't understand the complicated solutions above and fear trying them. I wish so much that I had gone with a Mac (first time) despite my advanced age, when I purchased a new Asus Zephyrus, which turns out to have no sound. Apparently installing MS Dolby from the MS store can fix it, but in order to buy it, you have to create a MS account. Despite having not created a MS account, my coomputer is completely under the control of MS and all of its unwanted programs. It's too maddening. What is the simplest thing that I could do to get rid of Edge, MSN, and Address Bar Search?
How do you "block in firewall"? I have Malwarebytes and Norton.

In Firefox's Tools, Settings, Search one can choose a setting:

Going through Tools/Settings, I find nothing that can help me unburden myself of Edge, MSN, or Address Bar Search.
    ???
