Windows 10 Mail Notification no Sound

    Re: Windows 10 Ver. 1909 (build 18363.1443)
I realize this is an old problem, but having read most if not ALL previous posts on this issue, I am unable to find a resolution to my problem.

I have just started using Windows 10 Mail to handle my email. Till now was using Windows Live Mail and also Outlook 2013 for email handling.

Although I have ALL notification settings turned on for emails, I am not getting any sounds when I receive mail in my Win10 Mail app. I will always get notification sounds when using Live Mail and Outlook. All other notification sounds work normally as well.

I am not a novice computer or mail user. I've been in the computer support business for 50+ years so have seen and done it all. And am still actively involved with PC support so generally am very familiar with how this should work.
But, here I am stumped; I can't get email notifications to work. I do get a notification in the right hand Notifications panel.

    What am I missing?

Hello haunruh, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Just to verify, you have all notification settings below turned on for the Mail app?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, all exactly as you've shown. I also have Apply to all accounts checked.

Good. A couple of other items to double check:

    1) The New Mail Notification sound still has the default or custom sound set for it.

    2) Make sure Mail and Calendar app is turned on in Background apps.

Yes, both 1 and 2 are correct.

It doesn't appear you are missing anything. It should be playing a notification sound when you get new mail.

You might also check your sound settings below to see if by chance the sound for the Mail app (if listed separately) may be muted or turned way down.

Yes, all are (were) set. But I don't have the Game Bar function. What is that?

OK, just learned it is part of XBox. I don't have that App installed. Is that significant here?

The Game Bar option is not significant in this case. It's just another option to change the same as in the other options.
