@vista.aero email problem

    @vista.aero email problem


    In the days of the Vista Operating System I believe I got from this site an offer of a Microsoft email account <your ID>@vista.aero
    In recent weeks various email clients I use no longer will poll this account.
    But it does work logging on in any browser!
    The server details in the email clients are correct as before for Outlook/Live server login.
    Has anyone also had this problem? Have I missed some change notice?

    I use the latest versions of Windows 10 x64 Pro

    The @vista.aero part doesn't appear correct but then I don't know what country it is in. The most common format is in the order of <your ID>@v*********.com or **********.edu, ***********.gov, *********.bus, *****.co, etc. The part after the @ usually is the name of an ISP/Internet Service Provider like @aol.com, @netscape.com, etc. A search for vista.aero doesn't work. If using an ISP they will assign the Domain name and extension. Then there's the free Webmail like the old Hotmail.com, Outlook.com [not the same as Outlook part of Office], Yahoo.com, Gmail.com, etc. I set up my own Domain back over 20 years ago when learning HTML and the Hosting service provides E-Mail.

    Thanks for your reply.

    It has been working as <My Name @vista.aero (without the dot com) up until several weeks ago in several email clients.
    It never needed to be like <My Name>@outlook.com or <My Name>@live.com
    It was some sort of Microsoft alias account working as does @hotmail.com, @live.com or @outlook.com but just as @vista.aero Without the .com ending.

    And entering the email as <My Name @vista.aero and password into any browser for a Microsoft email login as <My Name @vista.aero does still work and shows the latest emails.

    The email client errors from two clients say:

    [AirSync]Synchronization error (SyncStateNotFound)

    and

    Unable to send or receive messages for the ******** (vista.aero) account. Header download for the 'Deleted' folder did not complete. The operation was canceled by the user.Server Response: LOGIN failed.Server: 'imap-mail.outlook.com'Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0FProtocol: IMAPPort: 993Secure(SSL): Yes

    I'm 5 hours later in the evening from you, my Time Zone is 7 hours from GMT/UTC [for the next few hours]. Can't find anything about the Microsoft Alias, I have both Hotmail.com and Outlook.com, they aren't aliases but have now been merged into Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft, was coming some years ago when Microsoft announced Hotmail.com would become Outlook.com and took awhile to make the transition.

    Thanks for your reply. <My Name>@vista.aero would have been and still is working world wide.
    Brink I hope will see this and he might remember about it from back in the days of Vista Forums!

    I have this issue as well. My @vista.aero email can send fine, however I have not received any emails since Mar 31 2021. I cannot add the account in Outlook 365.

    I can log into the account via browser but still cannot receive any emails.

    Thanks for you reply falcon2099. I have found I can send and receive from the vista.aero account in a browser and also the account still works in the Windows 10 Mail app.
    But annoyingly now this app has been updated and mail server parameters for the working account cannot be seen or edited anymore! Entry of Microsoft, Gmail and Yahoo are automated and un-editable.
    Like some mobile phone mail apps the setup is automated and doesn't require entry of the parameters anymore.
    So you cannot see what may work in a regular email client.
    I have tried to get in touch with Microsoft but with no result! The initial contact doesn't understand the complexity of the problem and no one they elevate the problem to ever get''s back to you!
