Do you mean to tell me that every software developer who develops software by using technologies available from Microsoft must necessarily always be working for Microsoft Corporation? If you have nothing more useful to add, then I suggest that you move on.

And disabling programs by renaming their files isn't ideal! It can produce Event Viewer errors, or maybe it could corrupt system, or cause some problems dunno... Also I Am not sure about denying all access permissions of programs.

you also have to disable or delete all the "Edge update" services (edgeupdate, edgeupdatem & MicrosoftEdgeElevationService) from services.msc. only after disabling all the MS Edge update services, then you can delete the Edge update tasks and the MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe file.

I ran the above command and disabled the "EdgeUpdate" tasks. My Edge has never been updated.

One example of drivers that belong to a 3rd party program and that can be automatically updated by this same 3rd party program (if automatic updates are set to enabled in its settings) is Logitech G HUB, as the current version of it uses some drivers that were last updated by it about two months and a half ago. But I never tried Sledgehammer, so your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it was just a coincidence and maybe Sledgehammer was unrelated to what's caused your 3rd party program to update its own drivers automatically. Controlling updates is normally not needed outside an organization or business/production environment where WSUS and PowerShell will let you do just that. Windows 10 Home can have issues with automatic updates being installed on some hardware, but blocking Windows Update merely for the sake of avoiding issues that you might one day bump into compares to being afraid to walk in the woods at night because if a billiards table falls from a tree, you're dead...

Not sure now, if it works as one update says: pending restart!

So it seems it was automatically downloaded and is ready for install on restart!

Had you hidden it via Windows Update MiniTool or a similar tool?
