I'm sure that you update other browsers. You should just let edge update. It doesn't need windows update working.

As for disabling edge update service. Check the two scheduled tasks and see if you can disable those.

For Edge update you, or someone else linked me that site https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...ch.aspx?q=edge Didn't try it yet. Since I didn't find solution yet how to completely disable Edge, without starting any other process.

Also Task Scheduler is bugged. It happened to me both on Windows 7 & 10. Mouse cursor is laggy, after changing anything in task scheduler. I Am afraid to change anything there. Will have to try, after backup and see, if it is still bugged.

Sounds like it might be time to back up your system and do a clean install.

I agree. That's not normal at all. If not a clean, then at least an in-place. Spring cleaning............

That happened long time ago, I didn't mess with it since. I Am on backup of a clean Windows 10 install... No (sfc/dism) errors, no Event Viewer errors, no NTFS errors. Windows is extremely bugged!!! I had WPA.exe crashing on 2 clean installs causing .NET Runtime Error and kernelbase.dll error. While it was caused by using sRGB virtual color profile LOL!

EDIT: OK disabled it in TaskScheduler, didn't notice any problem this time, maybe it was fixed!

Well on two recent clean installs .NET framework 3.5 broke on both and had to be reinstalled from installation media.

No reason that I could find.

On your PC? What? You mean on my PC right? Do you even read what I Am writing xDDD because I said: "While it was caused by using sRGB virtual color profile LOL!". It was caused by the sRGB virtual color profile strange as it sounds...

I had bug with reference memory with some program, like when program tries to access memory address, which doesn't belong to it. Or could be caused by a corrupted RAM. But I have no other issues like that and program doesn't have reported this issue - dev said... Also did Memtest not that long time ago and today chkdsk /b /v everything was fine... So I Am like in I don't even mode... Big corporations care only how to make more money, bug fixing will be probably like in the middle of some of their list and also Windows is most complex system and code is becoming less efficient. Office and modern programs can't even output as fast as you write OMEGALUL, it is really painful, problems all the time, can't even do anything real...

STATUS: can't try edge update from MS catalogue yet, because I had latest version and MSUpdate is disabled in TaskScheduler. So I won't need anything for awhile...

    @empleat

Way back in this topic, you evidenced a desire to stop WU from updating your drivers.

    Do this...

Open regedit and go to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

If you don't have such a key, then just create it.

On the right side, create a new 32-bit DWORD value named ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate. Set its value data to 1.

I would then reboot. Not all registry edits require a reboot, but I'm not gonna remember all of which do or don't. So just reboot.

No I don't mean on your PC. I mean on mine. I was just referencing your comment on buggy windows 10. I just mentioned the problem I had twice with no obvious cause and both times after a clean install. It's nothing to do with your issues.
