    Microsoft Edge Icon Doubling

    Hello,

I have two identical computers used in a music production facility. Identical CPU (Intel i7-9700), identical RAM and amount of RAM (Corsair DDR4, 32GB) , identical graphics card (Nvidia GeForce GT 1030), identical OS and OS version (Windows 10, 1909 latest updates) and each computer has the latest update of Edge.

On both machines, I created a shortcut to Edge (I renamed the shortcut and changed the icon picture on both as well) and placed it on the Taskbar. On one machine, when I click on the icon, Edge opens as expected. No problem. But on the other machine, a 2nd icon appears and then Edge opens. Why does this occur, I prefer to have only one icon representing the program that is open. I do not have any earlier versions of Edge installed as far as I can tell and the settings in Edge are the same in both machines! I cannot find any difference in settings between the two computers, but there must be something that is different that is causing this difference in behavior.

Anybody out there who may have had the same issue and solved it? I've tried deleting and rebuilding the Windows icon cache file (App Data/Local/IconCache) but this didn't fix it.

    Thanks!

    Check at: C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
see if there is 2 Edge shortcuts...,
delete 1 or both, then start from scratch...,
Open Edge, pin to taskbar, right click there and change icon from within Properties of the pinned shortcut.
