Windows 10 mail has stopped working with AOL

I have been using Windows 10 mail with my aol account for a long time. Today out of the blue I am getting a "We couldn't access this account:Aol. You might need to update the password or give permission to sync to this device." I have not changed my PW, but I re-entered it in the "attention required" field - nothing. I then changed the PW with aol online, confirmed the PW was correct and tried entering this PW into Windows mail - still get the same error message. I next deleted aol mail from Windows 10 mail and tried to add it again - still won't connect. Not sure what to try next?

Windows Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.1379

    Thanks!

I don't think I have the answer, but maybe. Do you have 2FA enabled? If so you need to enter a created app password instead of your account password. You get it from within AOL settings.

AOL now use Yahoo so you’ll require 2-step authentication & an app specific password.

Thank you very much, everybody! The problem was indeed that I needed to generate a new app-password. Fixed!
