Is there a *easy* way to create a Desktop Shortcut in Edge?

    Hi folks -

Try as I might, I cannot find an extension enabling me to create a quick webpage desktop shortcut in Edge.
You would think that Microsoft would have thought of a simple solution to accomplish this.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

I may be misunderstanding the question but I can click and drag the small icon at the left end of a URL/Address box to the Desktop, creates a shortcut to the Web site in use. Double-clicking that shortcut opens Edge at that URL.

Create Shortcut of Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

Is the above to which you refer ? It is for Legacy Edge, but likely may work with Chromium.

Extensions are not usually the responsibility of browser distributors, they're usually left up to 3rd parties to develop.

    Steps :
    Open web site
    Copy url
Go back to Desktop > right click > New > Shortcut > paste.
(Note: in your case, Edge would have to be set as your default browser. Any URL shortcut will open in the default browser)

    Hi all -

    Thanks for the replies.

I need a quick context menu solution.

Right Click -> Create Shortcut -> [Shortcut appears on desktop.]

Similar to the Quick Cut add-on in Firefox.

    There is this:

Create Shortcut - Chrome Web Store

The shortcut would need to be manually moved from Downloads to Desktop.

Ahhh. Edge Chromium. That's an idea!

Now how do I download this since I don't use Chrome?
    Developer's website is in Japanese.

If not using Edge chromium then install some version of it (maybe Canary) and visit the posted link. Then an "add to chrome" button should appear.

    Download Microsoft Edge Insider Channels

I will test using Vivaldi (chromium) and see what happens.

EDIT: Tried the extension and it doesn't create a shortcut. (for me)
