    Better browser then firefox?

Is there a browser that 1- isn't way different 2-can use almost all FF addons 3-doesn't force u to update or remind u every day numerous times. #3 is the reason i wanna change. I don't know why but the update prompt gone from a few times a day to literally every few minutes. Not gonna update FF because every time i do something changes and no longer works, be it an addon or whatever. So i need a different browser but i cannot give up at least 3 or 4 addons that have become must haves for me. No need to mention chrome, as i have tried that and it doesn't support any of the addons i use if i recall, certainly not all of them or i;d be using it today. So the requirements are addon support of the ones i need which means it must be able to use them all for obvious reasons, and it must be configurable to not auto update and not ask to update. I know theres likely nothing out there but i gotta ask b4 firefox drives me to drinking. Thanks.

I used to use Pale Moon, which is a Firefox derivative. The last I checked it can use some Firefox add-ons, probably not all.

It can be configured to NOT auto-update. I'm not sure if it can be configured to not even notify you that an update is available.

As I recall, updates are made maybe 6 or 8 times a year.

By accident, I have stopped the Firefox auto updates.

When a new version of Firefox is released, I download it from here...
Download the Firefox Browser in English (US) and more than 90 other languages

I save the file to my desktop and then double click it to run the file. During the install/upgrade I choose "Custom" and then UNcheck the box "Install Maintenance service".

This stops auto updates and the notifications.

I assume this works, because even with Firefox updates set to Auto in Options, my FF does not auto update or notify me.

It's the only thing I can figure out, that stops the updates.
I know mine doesn't update and I've done nothing to stop them that I know of.

I just always have unchecked "Install Maintenance Service", because it "sounds" fishy.

Nope, didn't work. For whatever reason when I chose custom install it didn't give me any choices. No things to choose to uncheck etc, it just went on and installed and finished.

So original question still goes....alternative browser as described in my original post?

You can see, it even tells you it has to do with updates...

This is version 84.0.2 but that "maintenance Service" thing has been there since back around version 50 or so.

I believe u, it just didn't show that for me. Maybe your browser is older than the latest and they got rid of that in the latest one. If i could find a exe for FF 83 and uninstall this one completely then install that i would get that option during install. But unless i know that i don't wanna go thru all that.

I'm on the latest version. I also have a copy of FF 83.0, BUT, they've had that option to uncheck that box...for the last 30 versions or so.

Maybe you should use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall FF (export your bookmarks first), and all it's remnants.
Then do a clean install of FF.

I've been using FF since version 3.x. Every time I upgrade FF I get the option to uncheck the "Install Maintenance Service".

I'm thinking that maybe if you EVER let it install the Maintenance Service... it doesn't give you the choice anymore?
