    Gmail Spam Folder

I have used the same Gmail Email address for ages. Recently, I have been getting more Spam than I was getting not so long ago. I am normally very careful in how I use it and unsure why its happening.
Messages in Spam folder are automatically deleted after 30 days. Should I just leave them or empty the folder myself? (I have ample free space of my 15gb allowance).

Once a person's E-Mail address is posted on some site it becomes relatively for programs to be used for the purpose of harvesting addresses, also known as phishing. As to deleting the SPAM I do it manually every morning, the E-Mail service provided by my Domain Hosting Service sends a daily summary with links to Deliver or Delete.

I've had a huge increase in spam in my Gmail. I used to empty it daily because I don't like seeing the unread count, and there weren't that many, but it got so bad I ended up hiding the folder from view, and just let it build up, and then let it auto-delete/empty by itself. It used to be around maybe 5 spams a day, but now it's like 20. Once in a while I'll check it just to see if something real was sent there from a newsletter I may have a subscription for, but it seems to do a good job of filtering real from fake, and I don't think I've ever had a real (from a person I know) email ever go to spam. I rarely (1 in 100) get spam sent to my inbox, so I'm happy with the setup I have.
