E-Mail changes coming but don't hold your breath.

Microsoft to replace its many mail variants with 'One Outlook' | ZDNet
Microsoft looks to be finally moving to a true, single Outlook client, but it may not be available as part of Windows 10 until 2022, according to a new report.

    'One Outlook' ???

    Great! Another name change!

Now, when someone comes on here asking about Outlook, we'll have to quiz them on which Outlook they have, Outlook, Outlook 365, Outlook Mail App, Outlook Web, One Outlook... blah, blah, blah..........

    Hi there
Why not simply call it Microsoft Mail (We already have microsoft Offfice in any case) or is that too simple --- I suppose they need to hire a load of "Branding consultants" and pay them outrageous fees to suggest a name change --that then can justify Ms charging us poor customers a shedload more money more for these types of applications.

These days most email clients are far too complex etc -- my favourite of all time was the freebie "Outlook Express" -- did what you needed to do with simple interface, could have several accounts, was a doddle to set up and also worked on exchange servers.

Since loads of people now use email on phones and tablets - who needs really complex emai systems with all the "Team collaboration" things in it -- if you do remote business / meetings etc things like ZOOM are far more effective anyway - just leave emails to simple message sending plus attachments as and where required.

    Cheers

Personally I stopped using email clients very long time ago - I use gmail and access it through a web browser. This way I don't need to keep tons of old messages or worry about dealing with them, I also don't get any virus-related problems (since the messages are not on my computer and the attachments as well, I only download things I trust), the mailboxes are the same on any computer and on my phone without any need of syncing, I can go on. So now I can't imagine using a client. When I install Microsoft office, I skip Outlook - I have no use for it. So, while they might want to spend a ton of money on this name change - I don't really care.

    Personally speaking...

I like Mozilla Thunderbird. I find that Outlook is a bit of a hog when processing a large set of rules and is easy to manage.
Microsoft should keep the original name and just that - Outlook - across all their Outlook branded products.

    FWIW.
