    Web page hijacked.

Just been looking at my website and found that one of the links is directing visitors to a gambling page. How could this happen. I have been running the site for about 10 years, now, without problems. My Windows version, 2004, Build 19041.630. Any advie welcome.

Have you verified the link by using a different computer on a different ISP that it has been diverting for everyone, not just your computer? If so might have to check with the desired site to assure it's still in business.

I like to get on a working site and use Save page or Save page as and Web page, complete. It gets the HTML page plus a folder of same name with added _files which contains all the support files, copy to a thumb drive then open it offline in a browser or three to verify okay or faulty. Always possible the site is out of business and Domain name sold. If it's a popular site malefactors like to screw things up.

Have you checked the users agreement with your webhosting service? There may be a little line in the users agreement allowing the hosting service to insert links for ads.

Ya that`s a problem I don`t think we can help you with

    I wouldn`t consider it a Windows 10 issue.

Well, I've just deleted the link, and I'm now in the process of updating the passwords. Think I might have had the FTP open for too long when I was updating the pages, and somebody snook in. Just have to keep my fingers crossed. Can't think of anything else I could do. In reply to addram. www.artus-familyhistory.com :)

    Solved

Well, talk about things going from bad to worse, here's what followed. I changed my webmail passwords and the discovered that I couldn't access my email account. Unable to contact my web host (must be the World's worst, always an answerphone when you ring), I was 2 days in the wilderness. I went through the 'Forgot password' process, but was unable to retrieve the confirmation message. This morning, I was able to access my email client once more, and guess what? My domain host had emailed me to say that password updates had been suspended but were now restored. No apology, nothing. My renewal is due in a couple of weeks, so I think a new Web host is in the offing. Thanks again for the support on here.
