Edge/ Recommend Search
Hi all.
I have the latest version/ build of Windows 10 Pro, 20H2/ 19042.630
And, I noticed there were some tweaks to the Edge browser with this build, too.
Now there's something that may have been there before in the Edge browser, but, I may have just not noticed it. Or, maybe what I'm about to describe applies to the homepage that I use (MSN | Outlook, Office, Skype, Bing, Breaking News, and Latest Videos).
On my homepage of msn.com, there's a section that has "Trending Now" & "Recommended Searches"; it's the Recommended Searches that concerns me. What I'm about to describe may not bother some people, but I'd like to find a way to modify/ edit it.
Look at this cropped pic from my homepage of msn.com:
Now, in the area underneath of where it says 'Recommended Searches" you'll notice it's blank; I did that and erased it; it's not that I have anything to be super-embarrassed about, it's just that.....well, you don't need to see what my recent searches are
Now, in this Recommended Search area, yes, there were things in there that I had searched for recently, things from terms or phrases I've typed into the search field. But I would like for them not to show up in this area (Recommended Searches).
So, just to let you know, when I'm about to close my browser, I always go to & click on:
- Horizontal 3 dots in the upper-right of the browser
- Go to History/ Clear Browsing Data
- In the drop-down Menu, "All Time" is selected
- All check boxes are checked except for the last two of "Hosted App Data" and "All Data From The Previous Version of Microsoft Edge"
- I then click on the "Clear Now" button and then close/ exit out the browser
Also, after clicking on the 3 Horizontal dots/ then go to Settings, on the left-hand side I click on:
- Privacy, Search, & Services
Underneath the "Personalize Your Web Experience" heading, I turn off the slider switch on "Improve your web experience by allowing Microsoft to use your browsing history from this account for personalizing advertising, search, news and other Microsoft services".
- Under the "Services" heading, I expand "Address Bar and Search" and turn off the slider switches on "Show me search and site suggestions using my typed characters" and "Show me suggestions from history, favorites and other data on this device using my typed characters".
So, from what I've described, can you think of why items/ terms/ words I've searched for are showing up in the "Recommended Searches" area on msn.com's page on my Edge browser?
Thanks for any info or suggestions.
