Edge not offering to remember my Google password

I would like Edge to remember my Google password for YouTube etc. But when I go to log on to YouTube for example it always asks for my password and does not offer to save it once entered. I think several days ago I said not to remember this password. Since then I've cleared the history (most items ticked). I have Settings->Profiles->Passwords->Offer to Save... ticked. My only extension is Malwarebytes. There is nothing under Settings->Profiles->Passwords->Never Saved. I have looked around the net for answers to this problem, but nothing much comes up for me. I'm using Windows 10.

    I did this Edge->Settings->Reset Settings->Restore settings...
I restarted Windows and then went back into Edge, and switched Malwarebytes back on. I still have the same problem, Edge won't offer to save my Google password. Also I trusted Google/YouTube sites with MWb. Well I'm adding these slowly, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

    Hi,

    1. It seems you are having a Malwarebytes Edge extension. Reset the Edge as earlier & use it without enabling Malwarebytes extension. It can create problems.

    2. Completely Reset Microsoft Edge Chromium

    3. It may be helpful to reset Malwarebytes settings as well.

    4. Open Windows Security & check whether all is well ?
    &
Launch your security apps one by one to check for the pending operations if any!

    5. Turn On Security and Maintenance Messages & Check the Security & Maintenance notifications from time to time. Is there anything flagged and /or pending ?

    6. By chance! After resetting Edge, the OPTION : Offer Saving Password was enabled ?

    Let me know.

    Thanks. ...

I followed the instructions to completely reset Edge. I temporarily disabled "web protection" in Malwarebytes. Restarted Edge and logged on to my Google account via Google in Edge. Still Edge wouldn't offer to remember my password. I didn't see any reset in MWb except for "restore default settings". All green ticks in Windows security settings, and there's no security notifications. All software is up to date. MWbs scan is clear.

    So,

    1.Try sfc /scannow command

    2. Try to Reinstall and Re-register Microsoft Edge

    Probably The Last Options!

    Thanks. ...

The sfc scan comes back clear:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

In Settings->Apps & features the option to uninstall Edge is disabled.

    Just looking at this:
Reinstall and Re-register Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

I don't want to be without a browser on this laptop, so I'll do it at a less critical time. Although I guess I'd have serious problems if Edge couldn't be reinstalled.

I was using Firefox, but I reset this machine since. I then tried Chrome which didn't work well at all. Maybe I'll try Firefox again, but I get the impression that Windows 10 is not friendly towards either of these alternative browsers.

    1. You can make a System Image for precaution.

    2. You can try & use Portable Firefox OR you can try Brave Browser ( Keep away from Crypto Wallets / Currencies & other financial features! )

    Still Up To You!

    Thanks. ...

I remember about three days ago I had Edge and Chrome installed, with Chrome being the main browser. The two seemed to have a battle on my machine and Edge has come off worse, even though I uninstalled Chrome. I had a similar experience with Firefox about a week ago.

I installed Firefox Portable, and it's working ok so far. It kindly remembers my Google password. And not involving the Windows OS by setting Firefox as the main browser, seems to be a safer option. I guess the only downside is that links will still be opened by Edge.

Finally I fixed this frustrating issue, whoopee. What I was missing before is that I was not clicking "sign out" in "History->clear browsing data" before clearing the cached data with "clear now". Hopefully someone will find this helpful.
