    Set policy settings in the registry

    For anyone still looking at how to do this, the following registry values will suppress the startup wizard and set new tab to blank.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]
    "NewTabPageLocation"="about:blank"
    "HideFirstRunExperience"=dword:00000001

    There is no such key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge", but there is "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge" key.

    DWORD or String?! I think this trick works for Edge legacy not for Chromium version 92!

    Exactly the same with me zooburner. No matter what page I tell it to open on, I get the bing search and msn news. So I gave up and binned it. I was curious to see if Edge had actually improved. No it hasn't. They advertise loads of add ons and extensions, so I went and had a look. Some are definitely 'minority' interest, many are doubled to to make it look more than it is, and most are rubbish. So, for me, it looks like its going to remain third party browsers and google search.

    For info only; those wanting to test that Registry key mentioned previously, if the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" key does not exist, you have to create it.

    But that particular policy "is available only on Windows instances that are joined to a Microsoft Active Directory domain, Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise instances that enrolled for device management, or macOS instances that are that are managed via MDM or joined to a domain via MCX."

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dep...abpagelocation

    Which means that on a non-MDM/Domain-joined standalone PC, it won't work. If you use that particular registry entry (for testing) and then enter this in the address bar,
    edge://policy
    it will say "This policy is blocked - its value will be ignored" under the Policy name NewTabPageLocation.

    Just use NTSP:

    You can define whatever new tab page you like. Optional: Over-ride start page.

    I am trying to get rid of existing extensions! Not to add another one! Why for such a simple thing we have to add another app, api, extension or anything else?!

    Microsoft has to add an option to set NTP as a blank (I have sent more than 10 times a feed for them!). As I googled there is many many requests to add this option to Edge (customizable NTP, not Microsoft customization version!).

    I am "Enterprise" version user, but as @das10 said above, they just made it complicated the process to enforce users to use their "Bing" and "Office" and many rubbish stuff, and the other way they doesn't break AntiTrust law!!! What a genius way

    If an extension is the only way to get around the problem then currently that's a working solution.

    As for Bing. Nobody is forced to use it.

    Having said that I'm not an Edge fan and it's not my default browser.

    Nobody can force! But M$ is not nobody! Is a billion dollars software company.

    What about this (?!):

    What about set the default search engine as "Google" then type in search box (not address bar) shows search results on "Bing"! Users have to type in address bar instead of "Search Box"!!!

    As I know users set a default search engine to search every where in their browser with their preferred search engine (!) not just in address bar (also they preferer to have their default search engine in right click too). Maybe I am wrong...
