    Windows default email client

In settings>default Apps I have Outlook set as my default email client However when I right click on a file and select "send to" and then "mail Recipient" windows 10 opens Thunderbird which I have installed but rarely use and know for a fact that it is not my default email client.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps and scroll down to Set defaults by app.

Select that, and make sure that Outlook is set for all categories.

Every program I have on my system is listed there both Outlook and ThunderBird are listed. Under ThunderBird I clicked manage and this is what is listed.

I would change all the Thunderbird entries to "Choose a default", and then make sure that the entries for Outlook are "all Outlook".

    Then try Send To.

Under ThunderBird there are 3 entries .eml,.wdsemi and MAILTO

I changed .eml to Outlook but the same thing happens my send to opens ThunderBird rather than Outlook. The one that has no app when I try to manage it I get 2 choices ThunderBird or go to Microsoft store to find an app. It would be nice to find out why this is happening but it is something I can work around.

    Thanks

Do you have a separate entry for Outlook, with its own "File type and protocol associations"?

    Same as above -

Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps and scroll down to Set defaults by app

See if there is an entry in the list of apps for Outlook.

Set the .eml file to Outlook in the Outlook section.

Go back to the Thunderbird section and set all entries to Thunderbird.

    Reboot.

Verify with a screen shot that Outlook is set as the default mail app.

    Try Send To.
