No direct "Save to"-window at file download in new MS Edge Stable v86

    Hello together,

since my Microsoft Edge Stable updated to version 86, I don't get the "Save to"-window directly, before a file download starts. Now I to click on "Save to", when the browser is asking me, what I want to do with the file. Only then I geht the "Save to"-window. How can I prevent, that the browser is asking me the same question for each download? Or how can I download a file like before in version 85?

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards

I mean the "Save as" window. Sorry for that, but I don't use the English version!

Click "..." just after "Save as", then "Save".

(Or switch Settings, Downloads, Ask me what to do with each download, Off if you never wish to be asked.)

    This was a requested improvement:

Update: Open/SaveAs is now available on Edge Stable ( version >= 86.0.622.38)

    Best thanks for the hint!

"Ask me what to do with each download" is always on, since this setting exists, because the download location varies. Furthermore I give nearly all files an individual name and not that, which is given.

Until v85 the setting was called "Ask where to save each file before downloading" and this old way safed me at least one click for every download. Because now I must additional click at "Save as" in the new prompt to get the "Save as"-window.

Is there no possibility to open every download automatically in the "Save as"-window? Maybe there is a way (e.g. changes in the registry), that the new feature or prompt will be answered automatically with "Save as", so I will get the "Save as"-window directly!

Also another person is looking for a solution in the Microsoft forum, who described it in a better English than me:
