Didn't work, got this, but thank you all for taking the time to help me

It definitely works. I used it myself to remove Edge Chromium.

Did you remember to type cmd, first? I'd post a screen shot, but I can't, cause I have NO Edge Chromium to uninstall, anymore.

I can show you this much screen shot... I can't hit the Enter key for the 2nd command, cause there's nothing left to uninstall.

It took me a couple tries to get it right myself. I think the hardest part was when in File Explorer, and I had located and highlighted the Installer folder... to remember to choose:
File > Open Windows PowerShell > Open Windows PowerShell as administrator

    Import to Edge-image1.png

/edit Here are the directions again...

Open File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application.

Open the version folder, e.g. 83.0.478.58 and then highlight the installer folder, so that you end up at...
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\83.0.478.58\Installer.

    With the "Installer" folder highlighted...
Select: File > Open Windows PowerShell > Open Windows PowerShell as administrator.

    Type: cmd
    ...and hit Enter

    Then, copy/paste the following command:
    setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

    ...and hit Enter

Afterwards... Windows Update will automatically install Edge Chromium again.

What did you have to do that was different? I'd like to update my directions.
Unfortunately, I can't test it this time... cause Edge Chromium is already uninstalled. :/

    /edit

If you want to prevent Edge Chromium for being re-installed for w/e reason...

Prevent Edge Chromium from downloading and installing...

Browse the following path, in the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft

Quick tip: On Windows 10, you can now copy and paste the path in the Registry's address bar to quickly jump to the key destination.

Right-click the Microsoft (folder) key, select New, and click on Key.

Name the key EdgeUpdate and press Enter.

Right-click the newly created key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the key DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium and press Enter.

Double-click the newly created DWORD and set the value from 0 to 1.

    Click the OK button.

After you complete the steps, the Microsoft Edge based on Chromium won't download and install automatically on your computer.

Thanks for that. I would still like to try Edge, but am wondering if problem lies elsewhere as I have downloaded the Beta version as recommended above, but it has the same problem.

All this started because i somehow got signed out of firefox and can't get signed back in. Went on FF forum but no-one could help

You can try a roundabout way of doing this. Click on the favourites icon to the right of the address bar. Select 'manage favourites' then click on the settings three dots on the right. Then select import favourites. See if that works.

Posted before I saw the FF problem. Security software problem possibly?

i think because i can't sign into FF then it wont sync with Edge and allow downloads, or show on list. I also have Waterfox , which is signed in but doesn't show on Edge.
I have tried everything I can think of with FF, disabled all add ons, run it in safe mode, disabled anti virus, but every time I click the sign in page i just get continual rotating wheel. Edge does say it only syncs with all signed in things, so FF is a no no, but WF should show?
