Trouble with Windows 10 mail app

Windows 10.0.19042 build 19042 but had this problem ever since I got my new computer 2 weeks ago.
I have 2 email accounts so I like the Windows 10 mail app. My trouble lately is that my gmail account says could not access the account you may need to update password. My password is 11 characters long but when I go to fix my account it is showing 16 dots for my password. How do I fix this? When I try to retype my password it does not save because I still get the same error message and the same problem when I go to fix account. I even deleted the account and re added the account and the same thing happened.

You need to use Google Gmail password generator if you're using the 2 step verification method.

You may need to use the password generator anyway. I know I had to with Outlook 2016 which was part of my Office 2016. Once I got that generated password and used it, my gmail account worked just fine after I did.

Under security I see password, use phone to sign in, 2 step verification and Google account pin. When I click on password all it does is ask me to change my password which I do not want to do. I also notice that sometime when I go to mail the error does not occur so that is stramge.

If you’re not using 2-step authentication then you need to turn on ‘allow less secure apps to access your account’.
Having more *** in the password box that characters is normal as it prevents people from guessing your password based on how many stars are shown.

Thanks: I think less secure apps might be the problem. I will let everyone know if this happens again.

They maybe demanding more variety in your password, and/or you may have been using it for a long time, or their systems have detected 'suspicious activity'.

I have certainly changed mine before. It has been on the Windows 8/10 Mail App for around 6 years, and it is on the less secure Apps setting.

It has only been a couple of days but I think Bastet solved my problem so thanks for that.
