Is MS forcing me to use Edge?

Well that may sound like a bit of paranoia....

I've been using Firefox for many years with very few problems. A few months back some regular websites I use didn't work properly but using Chrome on them got me going. So I thought rather than Chrome I'll try Brave for the few times FF doesn't work and that proved to be ok.....for a while.

Now in the last week or so I've got a few regular websites that don't work on FF, Brave or Chrome but do on Edge.

Not sure what's going on but is anyone else seeing this issue? Not sure if it coincided with updating to 2004.

I've not had a need to use Edge for anything. I use Chrome and Firefox on Windows, and using Safari on my Mac. Not noticing any websites that were not working correctly.

Maybe it should read "don't work right on FF, Brave, Chrome. Shouldn't work on Edge, but does."

Edge (chromium) is still the new boy on the block and may not have the Junkyard Dogs at the gate yet like the others. Security is going up, not down. Non-compliant web sites give trouble or simply do not work.

It's possible, not saying it is, but possible some of your finicky sites aren't up to date.

Yeah, Safari on Windows was pretty good until Apple stopped supporting it some 6-8 years ago.

Thanks for the replies. I know at least one problem site relies on Flash a lot but used to work on FF then stopped, used to work on Chrome then stopped but still works on Edge.

The other sites don't seem anything special and are from big commercial organisations - not that that means much

Paypal for instance can be a bit variable. When going from the vendor's site to pay with Paypal, some will hang others go through. Change to Chrome and they all seem to go through.

Seems like we need to use more than one browser these days.

Flash will only work in Edge if allowed in settings. The default is off. I use it as my preferred browser and FF or Chrome as secondary.

I have Flash disabled in Edge but it still works on the sites that use Flash.

Sam, I can't find anywhere here where you said which Edge you are currently running. Are you running legacy, or chromium Edge?

I tested with that site and it was blocked. Not sure what was happening with the other site that worked for me.

    It's the Chromium Edge.

One of the web sites that was giving me problems was - Greeting Cards & Animated Ecards | Jacquie Lawson Cards - A lot of the cards are flash based and don't work in FF, Brave or Chrome but did work in Edge. No idea why that should be.
