    A Gmail notifcation query

    Guys

I have followed steps to insure I receive Gmail sound notification but it does not work.

I have Gmail on my W10 laptop and on my Android Mobile Samsung J3 2017.

    I have done the following>>>

    gmail app
    menu in top right
    settings
    sync gmail
    notify for every message
BUT show notifications slider is off and I cannot move it and it says underneath "notifications from this category are blocked"

    Help please

    Hi

I have a mobile J3 2017 also and can get sound
Go settings on your mobile - Click on Notifications - And make sure Gmail is on for notification
Then click on your Gmail icon on your mobile - click on the three bars - then settings -your email account
Click on manage notifications - Click on sound to add a sound notification ...

Regarding Gmail sound on your laptop I use an extension called Checker plus for Gmail from the chrome webstore
Which will allow you to add sound notifications for Gmail or use the pre installed ones
Like voice - you have mail

    Using Microsoft Edge Browser Chromium

Thanks for reply, in meantime I had done what you suggested and all ok now, but I will pursue the Check app for my laptop notification.

    Thanks again

Ok...after installing checker, I do hear/receive audio notification when a Gmail arrives on my android.

when on laptop the only time I hear notification, is once I have opened gmail icon, so if i was working on pc, BUT had not opened Gmail, I would not know mail had arrived.

I know I am being padantic, but I am curious to know if it can work as it does on android.
