Why my browsers suddenly think I'm in the U.K.?

While of course I don't travel these days, for other reasons I was checking on hotels in NYC. I get a selection of hotel websites but they are all xxx.co.uk

And often (but not always) when I look for some item I'll see the prices in pounds.

Why could this have started and how do I stop it?

My windows version is 1903 (enterprise) and I use Chrome but I get the same thing in Opera.

Note: Someone had a similar issue in 2019 and said "uncheck automatically detect settings in LAN Settings and it solved my problem."

Is this the solution and if so why?

Are you using a UK proxy, or google.co.uk for example?

Proxy- lan settings- this is what that refers to:

Also consider your region settings- are these correct? E.g.

    Also what does this show?

    https://www.iplocation.net/

    Do you use a VPN?

Do you use any privacy protection type of browser addons?

What is your home page and search engine?

Example. I'm in UK but can appear to be somewhere else.

Sometimes your search engine might give region specific results.

I use Spectrum.net (equipment, etc.). I assumed they were my ISP.

    I use NordVPN.

BUT (and thank you), for some weirdo reason my ISP is Clouvider Limited, which is in the U.K.

They have a high fraud rating.

    How could this have happened?

Using a VPN will show your location as somewhere else.
