I know that Google Chrome does this, but this is the one feature about Chromium browsers that I hate. There are two tasks created that are meant to update Edge--which is good--but I don't like the fact that they run at a certain time for the duration of one day; however, I don't know what I would need to change in the schedules to make it so that Edge will update normally but not run in the background constantly. Any suggestions?
Settings > Privacy > Background apps
Turn off Edge, and anything else in the list you don't want.
I personally turn the scheduled tasks off.
If I want to check for updates to Edge, I enter edge://settings/help in the address box.
If there is an update, it will trigger the update process.

As mentioned, that's how I update Edge.
So let it update.
If there is no update, nothing happens.
You can remove this task safely , just update manual , when it suits you..........
Not sure if it's too late for a follow-up questions, but here goes nothing: If I delete the tasks, will my extensions still get updated? By the way, I marked this as solved because when I deleted the tasks and ran the update check in Edge, it didn't do the loop. I probably did something out of order that corrupted the program. Either way, that issue is fixed.

Edge just updated to the latest version ending in .64, so it's working with the tasks deleted.
