DNS

I was having trouble with Chrome reaching sites as it would say 'check firewall proxy etc.'
I read that I could disable 'use secure DNs .
Since I did disable it I now can reach sites like Netflix and others. I realize I have relinquished some security but at least I have access to some sites.
I have no ad blockers up.
Do you think this was an OK move or is there a better way for an average user to handle this blocking?

I have the same problem with Chrome and Secure DNS when using custom settings (Cloudflare, Quad9, etc). I would get the error that it can't reach the site, but if I refreshed, it would be OK. I have no issues with Firefox using Cloudflare, but Chrome doesn't always reach sites. I have no idea why. I did find using my ISP (as in the screen clip below) I have no issues. It's not always secure (so it states), but it's better than nothing. I know Secure DNS on Chrome is new, so hopefully Google straightens out the bugs as I would like to use Cloudflare as I do in Firefox.

My PC was set up the way yours portrays. I unchecked with your current service provider.

I did notice that it is fickle and sometimes lets you in a site it blocked moment before. Now it has me wondering about Chrome settings and extensions which are disabled for the moment.
In a pinch I use Edge to get into a site to do business. I gather you feel this is a glitch not valid, tight settings on Chrome's part. The site's I am trying to enter that Chrome blocks are valid like Medicare and Netflix. Then again it works at times.
Until rectified I will go to Edge as necessary.

I would recommend using Cloudflare's public DNS servers.

Does it replace Chrome or just adjust settings? I have to read it more thoroughly but just wanted to know this?

I don't know about maranna, but like I said for me, Cloudflare doesn't work all the time just like the others you can select. I even flushed my DNS and sockets. Only using my ISP works every time. Firefox has no issues, so it's got to be something with Chrome.

We've use Cloudflare for a while, and have never had an issue.

1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 are set on the router.

Firefox seems to be every popular. I would use it if it had a voice search like Chrome.
