It looks like you will need to manually add the ones you want to the Favorites Bar.

    Take a trip to :

    C:\Windows\SystemApps\
    Take ownership of :

    Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe ( or a similar name)

Make it READ-Only (triple click the square)

    Enter the directory.
Find and rename B-#########.exe both these files:

    MicrosoftEdge.exe MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe

You got an Edge over Microsoft.

This is basically what I'm learning. Bought a laptop with Win10 just the week before Win7 support ended, still not done cleaning out the bloatware & reaching such a point that I would consider Win7 no longer my daily machine

I use Firefox. Period. No Chrome, nothing else. Rarely I might use IE for seriously retarded security cameras that use active-X or whatever it is that breaks while logged in with FF. Really ought to Goodwill the darn cameras & buy all new...

Anyways, I see this Edge browser just keeps running in the background like malware is using it for something. I checked my router log and it's connecting out to a handful of Microsoft sites. Seems to be doing something like updates/heartbeat/spying on my usage behavior? Not sure, but I don't care for it

I recall jumping through hoops just about as contorted as this Win10, back in the Win95 era. And XP was such a huge improvement over Win95! Only half as much effort to clear out the BS

Win7 was an absolute dream! I pretty much didn't have to do anything really, with that OS. Just like Ubuntu these days

So, as I'm not yet ready to install Ubuntu on the laptop as the only OS, I'll continue poking at this new-fangled chrome-plated turd. If you don't scratch at it too hard, it wont smell!

(So why does Cortana continue to run in the background after I thought I opted out of that...)

Taking Ownership & Trusted Installer. Seems that I'm just breaking all the windows in this glass house! Yes, I'm well aware of what I just did is going to compromise the security of the entire universe, by renaming Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wibblywobblies to: 'NevermoreEdge'

And then just for fun, changed the exe to read only instead of 'read & execute', for all users including myself, all of them. Just in case something I don't know about yet will launch & run behind my back, then attempt to use Edge to order pizza to my door. Cortana? Are you monitoring my Win7 yet?

How to stop Edge from running as the startup program?

Thanks. Didn't know about that 'Leave the backdoor open' setting! And just what exactly is 'Toast Notifications'? Something new that somebody is moments away from figuring out how to re-purpose in order to push executibles?
