Never had the issue of hosts not working in Firefox. First time I'd seen that tab saying hosts not working was in someone's post example.

Host file is static and slows the system the new DNS does it all dynamicly and updated in real time Introducing 1.1.1.1 for Families

Use the block malware and or adult content

Site blocked in hosts then unblocked by enabling DOH over HTTPS.

Possible solution - switch off and use DNScrypt instead.

Someone who has DOH over HTTPS enabled with a working HOSTS file - post what they've got for these settings please.

I was using it. I just switched to Quad9 as a test but get the same results. Hosts file is ignored.

    FYI:
Does DoH support /etc/hosts? | Firefox Support Forum | Mozilla Support

Everything I can find says that with DOH enabled in firefox the Hosts file will be ignored.

So I'm puzzled as to why other members say differently.

Who is your ISP and do they support using IPv6? Your HOSTS file may only be blocking IPv4 addresses.
    No idea, sorry.

Deleting the last line gives you an empty hosts file, which may be fine. Doesn't explain your statement that it blocks in Edge, not Firefox. Is this the legacy Edge or Edge Chromium (new one)?
I'm trying to block mikritik. Whatever it's manufacturing, it does not need to put persistent cookies iny Firefox.

FYI: mikrotik.com is a Router Manufacturer out of Latvia.

"MikroTik is a Latvian company which was founded in 1996 to develop routers and wireless ISP systems."

    MikroTik Routers and Wireless
I have the Chromium version of Edge.
With the HOSTS file as above, Edge blocks mikrotik but Firefox doesn't. And my cookies deleter does not seem to be able to deal with 'persistent' cookies. (

Apparently Firefox likes www before the domain name -

    Example -

    127.0.0.1 www.tenforums.com

Could be. I'll try it. I've now put the MVP HOSTS file on.
