Ditto here. Outllook 2010, Win 10 fully patched. If I choose Edge as the default, hyperlinks work. Firefox as the default, it works. IE 11 as the default works everywhere except Outlook 2010 where it nags me about how to open the hyperlink, and the "Always" checkbox does nothing. If I email a hyperlink to myself, then check web mail in IE 11, hyperlinks open in IE 11. Web mail in Firefox and hyperlinks open in Firefox. So it's clearly an Outlook 2010/Win 10 issue.

I've done it all. Reset IE 11, checked the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command, and at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \.html. All is fine and exactly as my other Win 7 box.

I've tried messing around with the settings in IE11, too: turn off protected mode, decrease security at various sites, etc. None of that had any effect either.

Same problem here would love a solution to this nagging issue

I have tried few things with other browsers and the registry but nothing helps to keep IE11 as the default program to open URL from Outlook 10.

    Hello,

After upgrading to Windows 10, Outlook 2010 keeps asking how to open web links when I clicked.
I keep telling him to use IE11. The registry update Looks like Microsoft removed if IE11.
For if I click Edge or chrome then he start each link in Edge or chrome.
I do not want to used Edge for now until it not possible creates a simple link using drag / drop.
And especially until it do not sync favorites with other machines in my park (windows 7 et windows 8.1).

Do you have an idea ?

This is a bug or it is by Microsoft? If this is the case, I immediately make a retro pedal to windows 7.

    Thank you

I too have tried everything. We say that Microsoft did it on purpose to kill IE11. But with Edge and its impossibility (shortcut, favorites etc.), Microsoft goes straight to a new failure just like windows 8 (too modern).

    Similar problem with Outlook 2003

I am using Office 2003 on this laptop because I ran out of Office 2010 licenses. When I click on a link in Outlook 2003, I get my homepage in IE11. Links work in every other app. I do not get a window asking me what program to use. When I set the default program as IE11, I did make sure that all of the file types were IE11. I think that is the link directly under Set This program as default. It is Choose defaults for the program.

I made FireFox the default browser until I can get this fixed.

I hope they come up with a solution soon.

I'm not sure if FireFox can sync favorites with OneDrive, but it DOES sync bookmarks, favorites, etc. with a (free) FireFox account. I use Apple's iCloud to sync favorites, bookmarks, photos, etc. It does a great job. It's especially useful if you have an iPhone or iPad as well as Windows devices.

I just tried firefox and import favorites from IE11.
It does not work because the directory favorites IE 11 has been moved to that of onedrive. Firefox gets to import the subdirectories but empty

Not the most elegant solution, but what I would probably do is copy all your bookmarks from OneDrive to the appropriate folder on your hard drive. (It would likely be "c:\users\pmai\Favorites.")

FireFox has some import/export options as well, but I haven't learned about them yet.
