Ooops, I didn't read far enough Sue sold Slipstick & Diane now owns/runs it. I corrected my previous post .

Yep, lots of folks have paid it forward ... that's what makes Designer Media Forums some of the best on the net.

Well, I didn't know that . . . Sue Mosher's name rings a bell, but it must have been a long time ago.

BTW, did you get my PM?

That's exactly what I thought ... Sue Mosher... that name sounds familiar (probably Associated Press recognition).

Yep got the PM and thank you
I'll let you know in a few days - as per your instructions.

The solution Wynona offered is in : post# 90

I'm pretty sure I remember her from beta testing for Microsoft. Oh, well, doesn't matter.

    Waiting to hear from ya.

I've been out of town and was pretty excited to see a solution. Am I doing something wrong? I added to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT as shown below.

And I now see this error instead of the usual box asking what browser to use.

I even changed the Program Files to Program Files (X86). No joy!!??

OK, I take it back....maybe. I am completely capable of looking at the same code 10 times and missing my error 10 times. So I deleted my changes, downloaded Slipstick's opennew_win10.reg and it works perfectly! But just for the heck of it, what did I do wrong editing manually. To my dyslexic eyes my manual string was the same as the .reg files entry.

    Beats me!

To my dyslexic eyes your manual string looks the same as the .reg files entry too!

I looked at the .reg file and the only thing I see is the typing convention (two back slashes): one an escape character, the other a text character. This is just the way regedit handles things - you don't want to manually enter two back slashes, the example on Slipstick also shows only a single backslash.

The good news is that the .reg file worked for you. Other members will benefit from your experience (if the manual method doesn't work, run the .reg file) - thanks.

Thanks. Not trying to brag, but this is only about the 400th time I've edited the registry. I have no idea what's wrong with my edit, but the real news is that this did fix the problem!!

This is bugging me. When I edited the registry, I copied and pasted the string value from Slipstick's site. Did that again and it's broken. When I type the exact string again, it works. So is there something about doing a Cntl+V to the string that doesn't work? Sure looks identical.

That could be. I know I've done Ctrl+V before when entering product keys and it wouldn't work, but when I typed it in, it did.

    So . . . that's a great big MAYBE.
