I'd give Minimal Bookmarks Tree a try too. I used to use Neater Bookmarks, but it's had some issues for me, and it hasn't been updated since 2014. Minimal Bookmarks Tree is open source, and is still being updated.

hey thx @Bobby Phoenix -- I'll give this one a test later, too.

I hope to begin interacting-contributing to some of these open source extensions soon -
as soon as I understand enough coding to do so --

like many users, I have a need + a vision of how I want my experience to be,
