Force drop-down bookmark bar folder "menus" to stay open ?

    v.2004

Force drop-down bookmark bar folder "menus" to stay open ?-snag-0001.png

I've wondered about this for years - now I'm finally asking --

Does anyone know some key combination - or any other method -
    that will force-hold a browser's bookmark-bar folder to stay open --
so as to allow more than 1 action to be performed before it closes?

    Isn't this a javascript functionality?

Surely almost everyone has had this experience --
you want to re-arrange / rename / etc several bookmarks,
WITHOUT having to go into the full Bookmark Manager pane!

In my little screencap, say I wanted to rename/rearrange at least 2 of those 3 bookmarks -
but the default behavior only allows to manipulate 1 object before the drop-down menu closes.

Thanks very much for any assistance!

You might look into the Neater Bookmarks extension for Chrome.

Chrome add-ons work in the new version of Edge as well.

In Firefox you can set browser.bookmarks.openInTabClosesMenu to False,

in Chrome it's Ctrl+click to open all in Tabs...,

    other browsers I don't know!

Not really a solution......, yet, but I'm workin on it!

    Sorry, in Chrome it is:
Expand Bookmarks Bar Folder, then press and hold Ctrl, then click desired items to open in new background Tabs!

thx for your input @ Edwin --

but I'm not wanting to open any bookmark in a new tab -
(I already do that w/ middle click + Tab Activate) --

I want to be able to perform more than 1 operation on more than 1 bookmark

(such as rearranging the order or renaming or a combination of both those operations)

located in the drop-down menu of the folder itself -
without having to go into Bookmark Manager -

by forcing that drop-down menu to remain open & allow multiple operations.

    Okay, sorry bout that!
    You got me stumped then!
I think you'd have to open the Bookmarks Manager.

No pencil icon ability to edit post? ok ...

re: Neater Bookmarks extension for Chrome --

The drop-down menu does stay open to allow multiple operations,
plus it does have a quick Search function -- most reviews are quite happy with it.

Interestingly, it doesn't have the ability to create a new folder --
though it was an easy enough tweak to simply R-click the Bkmk Bar, select "New Folder",
then click-open Neater and simply d&d "New Folder" into another folder of choice.

I'll keep looking just to learn more, but this will be a near-100% solution for many people,
    thx again @OldNavyGuy.

In Extension options for Neater Bookmarks, there is an option to Close unused folders when opening a folder.

Uncheck it, and the bookmark folders and their contents will continue to show in the tree after they are opened, or a new folder is opened.

Marked as solved -- just now had occasion to go in and update + rename a couple of same-site-related
bkmks, and Neater Bookmarks did what I wanted - it stayed still 'til I was done!

so thx again @OldNavyGuy for the pointer to this app
