How to prevent Chromedge from Opening PDFs

Currently running Win10 1909, IE11, Edge Chromium and Acrobat Reader 11. Ever since I updated to new edge any PDFs online that I click on with IE open in Edge by default. I would prefer to open them in Acrobat Reader but cannot find the setting. My company uses PIV cards and encrypted OWA mail so I have to use IE because Edge doesn’t support S/Mime Addon. When the 2nd browser opens it also seems to trigger some IP lookup security setting locking me out of my documents. Right now I’m working around it by right clicking and saving the pdf to Desktop then opening with Acrobat Reader but I’d prefer just to click on pdf and have it open in Reader. Thanks

Acrobat Reader should have an Edit/Preferences/Options dialog. Select it as the default app for all files that it can open. Otherwise, Settings/Apps & features/ Default apps. Scroll down to pdf and select Acrobat Reader

I struggled with that (mostly using FireFox) - you have probably found that, regardless of the file association setting, Edge insists (by default) on opening directly linked pdf files. The solution is under Settings>Site permissions (intuitive, not), scroll down to 'PDF' (6 from bottom).
