google chrome closes out when laptop goes to sleep ??

Very strange issue google chrome closes out when laptop sleeps, and when i wake it up i have to reload it, HP support guy connected said oh its the hard drive turning off that does it, he went in and set the hard drive to turn off at 999999. why not just turn it not to shut off is beyond me but i did not question him. but as i found out that is not the case and it still does it. so should i leave his setting what the hard drive turn off at 999999 or put it back at 15 min i don't no. But whatever that did not solve the issue and i can't figure out what is causing this and that's bad because if i'm in a zoom meeting and leave and it decides to close out like say i go to the bathroom, then bam meeting over for me and not good. any ideas as it should hold its place like the other apps , but it dose not.

also read a article that says never put SSD to sleep and turn all this stuff off like hard drive stuff turn it to never, turn off sleep and let the laptop do its thing. i don't no i'm all new to this stuff and ssd so not sure what to do lol.

    Hi Tony

Think I would delete browsing data, keep passwords and then reset chrome from the Chrome Settings menu. Resetting chrome will disable all extensions amongst other things. If you are using cookies to "Keep me Signed in" know your passwords before deleting browsing data.

If this corrects behaviour enable extensions slowly as one of them maybe causing issue.

Is your Chrome up to date?

What version of Win 10 are you on?

As a work around you could set sleep in menu to 30 minutes.

I power down my HDD, no point in it spinning. Not sure if the Advance Power menu is just using poor wording but I power down Hard Disks after 20 minutes. Not sure if this powers down SSD's as you never hear them.

@Caledon Ken yes chrome is at Version 83.0.4103.97 (Official Build) (64-bit) windows 10 is at version 2004 OS build 19041.329 yea Brink just confirmed to me t hat only applies to the solid state drives, but not sure why chrome is doing this, now it is installed to that drive as i install program there, but it does not close out the other programs that are installed there, just chrome. so is very strange i don't think it extensions but i will mess with them and see it may be.

As I said I would delete browsing data and reset. Reset does more than extension disable.

This new chrome seems a little iffy and when added to 2004 you you really could be producing some interesting results. Chrome would not let me log in to a site where stuff is sold but FF would. When I contacted them they said they were working on issue. Next day it was resolved.

Not saying either product is at fault but with so much changing it is hard to use Change Management practices to isolate root cause.

Did you find out the reason for your problem?
I always lock my laptop when away from my desk and when I unlock, I sometimes find that Chrome has closed. Luckily, when I open, it asks to open all the tabs I had open when it closed. But I would still be interested to know what caused your problem. Thanks.
