    Have you tried Lubuntu? How about TinyCore? The requirements for Lubuntu is 500MB RAM and with TinyCore it's less than 200MB. You've got DSL (Damn Small Linux) as well. Puppy Linux is great as well and has been around for ages. These distros can be run on ancient computers before netbooks were even a thing. Maybe check some of them out?
