Interesting that you are also running 10 Pro.

I just click on History in Settings and clear the History. As stated, if I do this before running Health Check only have about 175-200 trackers vs 3K.

Agree with moving on and not being overly concerned. Haven't had time to review the forums for CCleaner.

Thank you. I will probably uninstall and then install your version. I appreciate your help.

DKS, I just ran CCleaner on my laptop to compare Health check to Custom scan

The last time I ran CCleaner was a few days ago on Monday June 8, the day before Patch Tuesday as part of my monthly maintenance regimen.
--- So my screenshot looks good which is what I expected and unless something happens I will not run it again until a few days before July's Patch Tuesday.

I recommend you run CCleaner and then shut down your PC.
Upon startup, run CCleaner to see the original information at that time & create a similar screenshot comparing Health check to Custom scan.
Note that I am running CCleaners latest version.
At the end of the day, run CCleaner and create an end-of-the-day screenshot.
Post them, maybe something can be seen based on what's being shown.

Your Health Check shows 1451 trackers and 116.0 MB of junk. Your Custom Scan shows 501 MB of junk, trackers not displayed. It appears that Custom Scan cleans more thoroughly. Your number of trackers is somewhat comparable to what I experience. We are both using W10 Pro. Perhaps the problem is a bug in Pro.

I have run a Health Check analysis, then a Custom Scan analysis and then a Custom Scan cleaning. Then I re-ran a Health Check analysis and only 1 tracker was found. It appears that Custom Scan cleans junk more thoroughly AND removes the trackers. I am going to either continue using Custom Scan in the latest version of CCleaner or I'm going to uninstall and then install version 5.65.7632 64 bit to rule out any possible bug in the latest version.

That agrees with what I found.

I agree with both of you about using Custom Scan as that is what I always use.
--- I did that comparison to see what it looks like.
--- Note that the 1451 trackers are over a 3-day period.

DKS in your opening post "My wife's computer is Windows 10 and Firefox and she gets maybe 100 to 200 trackers each day.
Why am I getting so many trackers and how can I block them?"
--- That's a good comparison compared to what you are seeing.

Would you consider a fresh Custom Scan upon a starting up and comparing it at the end of the day?

Let me add one more point to this puzzle.

I currently use Chrome, but on Firefox (iirc) go to Settings/Privacy/Manage Data and check to see if all cookies are removed. (not sure if that is correct sequence).

Before when I ran Health Check or Custom Clean only, cookies for Facebook, Yahoo, Google would remain. Thus, I started using the browser tool and HC or Custom Clean. Those cookies are probably harmless, but like to have a clean slate.

MeAndMyComputer: Thanks. I will try that but its too late today since I'm already using the computer.

Pericles: Using Firefox, settings, Privacy, I have always had "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" checked but was still finding 2K to 3K trackers at the end of the day. Yesterday, I found and checked "History, Clear History when Firefox closes". After doing that and running Health Check (to see the number of trackers found) it only found 243! This is a great number for me. I then ran Custom Scan and cleared them. If I get the same good results today I will consider the battle won. Thanks Pericles for causing me to look for this new Clear History box that was hidden in a drop down under History, Use custom settings for history. Hoping for another good number today.

    FYI:

I've been using these Firefox addons for a long time:

    Cookie Auto-Delete

    Clean Links

    Forget Button

Thanks Callender. I tried Cookie Auto Delete and had some trouble learning how to set it/control it. It continually deleted cookies from my anti-virus software. I couldn't figure how to tell it to ignore it so I stopped using it. Clean Links may be over my head and the Forget Button looks like a quick way to delete all the bad stuff but, since things appears to running much better now, I think I'll stay with my current set up. Thanks, again.
