    Click through settings and check. Or just use "Analyze" instead of a real clean.

    Choose cookies to keep here:

    I aslo use Cookie Autodelete as posted above.

    What did Ccleaner's advanced report show?

    I am the originator of this thread. Attached is a screen shot of my Advanced Report.

    Correction. The screen shot I just posted was a file list. Attached here is the advanced report.

    Advanced report just gave a list of cookies, perhaps I am not doing it correctly.

    I did run HDCleaner and it showed elimination of 2300 trash files (trackers) ? Immediately after (without browsing) I ran CCleaner and it showed 98 trackers.

    Not really that much further concerned, just want to eliminate trackers. I lean to the theory it may be a marketing ploy by CCleaner.

    Should note that HDCleaner froze after the scan. After completion, I was clicking on the different features for info and it froze, happened twice. Also, Win10 blocked initial download, had to override. No worries, I may continue to experiment with both.

    Thanks for your time and effort, Callender. Pls note I am not the OP, just have the same problem. Look forward to his comments.

    I had the same experience as pericles. I also agree that this may be CCleaner inflating the numbers. This may be something we have to live with. I will continue experimenting and not leave my Outlook.com email open all day. I will continue to run CCleaner at least once a day and may also run HDCleaner occasionally. Any other ideas, please forward to me. I have posted screen shots of my File List and Advanced Report. Otherwise, thanks to all who have contributed to this.

    So that just shows 86 files in total:

    If you are using the free version of Ccleaner I'd suggest uninstalling it using this:

    HiBit Uninstaller

    Then download an older version of ccleaner:

    h**ps://download.ccleaner.com/slim/ccsetup565_slim.exe

    Set it to not check for and auto install updates:

    Run that version and see if you get the same problem.

    As for HDCleaner - You would usually right click the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator"

    If it's crashing - and it has crashed for me a few times during the last two years - it has been down to a .NET Framework issue where updating .NET Framework solved the issue.

    Or just uninstall HDCleaner if it's going to give you problems when running it.

    It's up to you if you want to do this:

    consider running this portable utility:

    CrowdInspect: Free Host-Based Process Inspection - CrowdStrike

    Set like this:

    Too Many Trackers-crowdinspect.jpg

    So you get full path, TCP, UDP, Localhost

    Then see what is actually connecting regarding installed programs. If there's anything you can identify that could be blocked via your firewall because it doesn't actually need to connect then it might help.

    Leave it running for a while then switch fro live view to history view.

    CCleaner introduced Health Check which identifies trackers in March '20. The previous versions do not identify the number of trackers. Actually, you can just run Custom Clean on the current version of CCleaner with effective cleaning and without the "hoopla" and propaganda of the number of trackers.

    Thanks again for your help, Callender ! DKS, look forward to any future info you may provide.

    I always remove the health check malarkey.

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piriform]

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piriform\CCleaner]
    "RunICS"="0"
    "Brandover"="0"
    "Language"="1033"
    "Monitoring"="0"
    "HelpImproveCCleaner"="0"
    "SystemMonitoring"="0"
    "UpdateAuto"="0"
    "UpdateCheck"="0"
    "CheckTrialOffer"="0"
    "(Cfg)QuickClean"="0"
    "(Cfg)HealthCheck"="0"
    "(Cfg)GetIpmForTrial"="0"
    "(Cfg)SoftwareUpdater"="0"
    "(Cfg)SoftwareUpdaterIpm"="0"
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Piriform\CCleaner]
    "GD"="35a7238d-eeff-4816-b9a8-fba55115e495"
    @="C:\\Program Files\\CCleaner"
    "UpdateAuto"="0"
    "UpdateCheck"="0"
    "CheckTrialOffer"="0"
    "(Cfg)GetIpmForTrial"="0"
    "(Cfg)SoftwareUpdater"="0"

    "Monitoring"="0"
    "HelpImproveCCleaner"="0"
    "SystemMonitoring"="0"
    "(Cfg)QuickClean"="0"
    "(Cfg)HealthCheck"="0"
    The trouble is that it comes back at least once per day and I have to merge the reg files again!

    Thanks, Pericles.

    Yes, I'm aware we can run Custom Clean instead of Health Check but since Custom Clean displays lower analysis numbers (what it finds) it concerns me that it is not cleaning as thoroughly. What do you think and are you going to use Custom Clean? Do you think Custom Clean cleans as well has Health Check?

    My wife has a one year old HP desktop running Windows Ten Home and I have a three week old HP laptop running Windows 10 Pro. Both are using the same CCleaner. Her CCleaner finds between 100 and 200 trackers and mine finds between 1000 and 2000 with the highest being 3398 trackers after just a few hours use. I can't determine why the numbers are so different. !!!

    I personally don't use Custom Clean or Health Check.

    I will enable and see if it reports differently.
