    Pop up Notification requests

Recently, I have seen an increase in sites (including TenForums) generating Pop Up boxes asking permission to send Notifications.

This type is particularly infuriating as it does not appear to disappear unless you click on the "Allow" or "Block" options.

I've searched the Forum but there are so many hits, I did not find anything about this particular type of Pop up.

I use the current version of Edge, I have Notifications turned off, I have AdBlock Plus installed (with a good number of sites whitelisted), but still see these frequently.

I cannot say I will never want Notifications, but I am 99% sure that I never now or in the future, want a web site to send me notifications.

    Can I stop these?

Hello, have you looked through the tutorial section?

    I don't see those. (I use Firefox).

It looks as if you're using Chrome, so you might try
Allow or Block Website Notifications in Google Chrome in Windows

where you will see a screenshot that looks like what you are seeing.

I did look through the Tutorials, and I found nothing on Edge.

I stated in my original post that I was using Edge.

And thank you for your reply. Missed that- good luck.

There are many more tutorials on notifications in general if that's your problem.

Of course if you're using the new Edge 'Edgium' that could be different.

The new Edge isn't entirely—or even mostly, so far—a Microsoft effort, though. Edge is now based on the open source Chromium browser, which is the underpinning of Google Chrome
In which case my previous post could be relevant.

    Otherwise.

Try installing ad blocker extension like
    AdBlock Plus
    UBlock origin
(both available for Chromium based browsers such as Edge).

However, the example you show is not uncommon, and becoming more common. Should only see once, cookies show record your preference and if no, then that will be the end of notifications for that site. But it's a site by site experience.

    I forgot that

So I'll have a look at the link you supplied.

Try installing ad blocker extension like
    AdBlock Plus
    Already installed

    Finally I've turned on
    Quiet Notifications
    - That may have made a difference already (or it may be cookies stopping it.)

    Thanks for the help.
