Reasons For Cent Portable Browser Not Launching?

Downloaded from official site. Cent portable works just fine on my 3 yr old Lenovo P51 with ancient Windows v. 1703 however when downloaded and extracted and run as admin (or not) on my newer Lenovo E480 win ver 1803 cent will not launch. Zilch. Any suggestions on why? Portable FastStone Image Viewer 6.4 works just fine so I do not believe that portable apps in general is the problem If I can avoid I would rather stick with the portable version of cent browser. TIA.

FWIW the 64 bit version works for me on 1903. No need to run as admin.

That it self-extracted indicates the download was ok.

Have a look at your Reliability History for a relevant red x.

A guess- anything to do with controlled folder access?

Thanks for responding. I'll take a look at your suggestions but first I will have to download again since I trashed the installer and the folder : )

I kind of enjoy using the portable cent browser when I do not want to launch FireFox or Chrome. Brave is my browser of choice now a days. I don't suppose you have heard anything problem related about alternatively just installing Cent Browser? Does it seem to play nice with other and all installations? TIA.

I see a problem reported and the offed solution is to add

    --disable-gpu
to its desktop shortcut or the shortcut that you use to launch it. (add to end of Target field)

    Example for other browser:

    Then if it actually launches:

Disable "Use hardware acceleration when available" in chrome://settings/system

If it doesn't work - undo the changes.

Thanks! I'll check it out again this weekend and see if that does the fix? Do you recall or have a link where you read about this possibly being a problem for some? TIA.

If it refuses to launch at all and doesn't show up as a running process in Task Manager then it will be some other cause.

Edit: You could move the program folder to another directory for example or try compatibility mode.

    Could be controlled folder access?

Add Protected Folders to Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10

Or just totally delete it, including any appdata folders that it created and reboot then try a fresh copy.

    Other option to try:

Add --cb-safemode to shortcut target field to run in Cent Browser Safe Mode with addons disabled.
