    All of my Favorites lost

For some reason within the last couple of hours I have lost all of my favourites which I use when I go on to the internet.

I have looked in File Explorer and the folders are completely empty. I definitely haven't purposely deleted these from the folder but they have gone completely

Does anyone know how this can have happened please and, more importantly, how I can recover them.

    Many thanks.

How to recover files and folders using Shadow Volume Copies

Restore Previous Versions of Files, Folders, and Drives in Windows 10

File Explorer favorites are pinned under Quick access in the left side of File Explorer. If they're not all there, check your old favorites folder (C:\Users\username\Links). Using the method above and restore the folder.

Might you have been logged in to a temporary profile as a result of some fault? Find out by entering this is a command prompt or powershell window
    Code:
    whoami
and you'll see the result in the form ComputerName\UserName

If it is not your normal username then say so - there is a tutorial about recovering from this

and the good news is that you will then find all your favorites and other files just as they were before this glitch.

I am using Microsoft Edge and my favourites are the links to the regular websites that I visit. I have also looked in the Quick Access area and there is nothing in there and I have also looked in C:\users\username\links and all that is in there is a desktop icon and a Downloads icon both of which are showing as 1kb in size.

Okay I don't use Edge and don't have it installed. It was not clear which favourites you wer referring to.

    I'm guessing here:

Try locating shadow volume copies of your Egde profile folder and restore. See here for where you might find profile:

Just a note to say that you can backup your profile every so often in future and restore if needed:

Edge Favourites do not show up anywhere in File explorer. They exist only within Edge.

[The Favourites folder you see in File explorer at C:\Users\%UserName%\Favorites is only used by IE not Edge.]

So, run Edge and see if your Favouites are still there then post back to say.

I routinely edit my favourites and export them to Onedrive so I can import them to any PC. They are also in my Reflect backups but you have to know which folder they are stored in to recover them.
